Mamata's politics over CAB

After going through the activities and statements by Smt. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of WB, since passing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), which is now an Act, by the Parliament, any common person, with a neutral view void of political inclination, is bound to believe that her love for Muslim votes is more than her caring for Hindus, especially, Bengalis.

CAB, a brainchild of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is nothing but a way meant to provide Indian citizenship to six communities, namely, Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs, Parsiks & Christians, who face persecution in three neighbouring countries due to their religious identity. Even though the act has nothing to do with the status of Muslim citizens of India, yet Mamata Banerjee has, shamefully, engaged herself in a narrative of discrimination. With her eyes on the Muslim vote bank, she deliberately allowed herself to become a toy in the hands of people with secessionist mentality.

Due to such nauseating political agenda, she allowed jihadists to continue with their rampage all throughout the state unopposed since last Friday right after their prayers in mosques. Public properties worth crore of Rupees were gutted into ashes. Lives of thousands of commuters was put at risk, as jihadists torched vehicles and railway properties, by denying permission to law enforcement agencies to act. And all these were done only to please her Muslim vote bank.

It is evident that she is not happy to see Hindus, especially, migrants getting citizenship of India without any harassment or discrimination. Her opposition to a law, in the list of the Union govt, after prolonged discussions in the both houses of the Parliament following constitutional norms, not only suggests her lack of respect towards our Constitution but also proves how low she can stoop for fulfilling her political ambitions at the cost of the national security.

And today, she has crossed all the limits by taking part in a protest rally against an act passed by the Parliament despite holding a constitutional post. Her instigation to jihadists to continue their protests, is not only stigma for our democracy but also a blot on the choice of Bengalis who elected her as the leader of the state. Her govt's decision to stay preparations and upgradations of the NPR vide a circular number 393- Home (NPR)/O/Cen-02/19 dated 16th December, 2019 is blatant arrogance against the federal structure of India.

She may think that her such actions will compel the Union govt to dismiss her govt and she can play the victim card as martyr but with a paid advisor like Prashant Kishore and a few sycophants beside her, she should have realised that Shri Modi & Shri Shah are not naive to fall into her tactics. They will let to continue full term and thus alienate her from people in general. If Mamata Banerjee believes that she can come back in 2021 riding only on Muslim votes, I feel pity for her political sences.
